If all fantasy castles combined into a single dream castle, Hogwarts would be its crowning glory. It is a typical Scottish castle which is popular as the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Young witches and wizards who turn 11 seek admission to Hogwarts School. According to its legendary headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, the castle is a stronghold of ancient magic. It welcomes students with open arms into a world which becomes their second home.
The fantasy castle’s each and every corner has something curious, bewitching or dangerous waiting for them. But all of this amounts to nothing as compared to its advantages. A student finds his love, career, friends and associations of lifetime at Hogwarts.
We get to know all about the magical world of Hogwarts through Harry Potter and the world around him. Just like mysterious fantasy castles, Hogwarts has its own legendary location. It is situated somewhere deep north in Britain, near a loch called the Black Lake. The exact details of the place are said to be ‘unplottable’.
At the edge of the school ground is a large dark forest called the Forbidden Forest. The other outer constructions are a Quidditch pitch, an owlery and greenhouses. The stairs and rooms inside the fantasy castle’s premises are known to sift positions without and stimulus or warning.
The students at Hogwarts are sorted into four houses; Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff. The Ravenclaw and Gryffindor students are hosted in two towers of the castle. The Hufflepuffs are housed close to the kitchen in the underground. Slytherins live in the fantasy castle’s dungeons.
The motto of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is ‘Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus’ which is Latin for ‘Never tickle a sleeping dragon.’ The fantasy castle’s environs are abuzz with laughter and merry making, adventure and wit, injuries and comforts with delicious food.
The founders of the school had a fall out over which students to admit in the school. Slytherin wanted only children of witches and wizards or pure bloods to be admitted.
The others agreed to provide magical education to all those with any amount of magical qualities. Thus, Hogwarts fantasy castle’s foundations were laid under some grudges.
These grudges would centuries later become the cause of great wizarding conflicts revolving around Hogwarts.
Over centuries of existence, Hogwarts has seen adorable and role model students, most horrific and evil students pass out.
The fantasy castle’s best parts seem to be its magical architecture and astonishing events. But a true witch or wizard, irrespective of their nature, will disagree. Because, the best part of Hogwarts is how accommodating the institution is without being judgmental.
Hence, the residents of the school including the students, staff and temporary residents will all agree on one thing. In the epic words of Albus Dumbledore again, ‘Help will always be provided at Hogwarts to those who ask for it!’
