The Hyrule Castle is a fictional castle appearing recurrently in a high fantasy action-adventure game series namely The Legend of Zelda. The Castle is an ancestral home of the royal family of Hyrule under which the Hyrule kingdom is ruled.
The Hyrule Castle serves as a seat for the Royal family of Hyrule. The King of Hyrule and the Princess Zelda serves as a controlling authority forming Monarchy for the entire kingdom.
The Hyrule Castle is located amidst iconic surroundings of Hyrule kingdom. The land of Hyrule is portrayed as a scenic beauty with tall mountains, boundless lakes, deep forests and barren deserts. The Hyrule is wrapped in a temperate climate which gives rise to growth of number of plant varieties which enhances the beauty of Hyrule.
Nearby castle is a Hyrule Castle town, a marketplace where the people of Hyrule, known as Hyruleans, do the business and other trade-related activities.
The third game in the series A Link to the Past serves as a first point of introduction for Hyrule Castle. But the most interesting aspect about Hyrule’s castle is that every game in the series portrays a different layout for castle.
The castle being the seat for the King and queen of Hyrule kingdom was a reason for multiple-conflicts and a subject of invasion throughout the series.
The Agahim in The Link to the Past takes over the castle after killing the Monarch. He appointed as Kings’ Second-in-command and chief advisor for rectifying the issues of
Hyrule kingdom through his magical powers betrays monarch and kill them to become the new king of Hyrule kingdom.
The other games in the list which incorporates the Hyrule Castle into their location were Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, The Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventures, The Minish Cap, Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks, A Link Between Worlds and the Breath of the Wild. Hyrule Castle served as a dungeon in particular games.
It is unclear whether the Hyrule’s castles presented throughout the series where entirely unique castles or just a modified versions of the same framework.
Apart from The Legend of Zelda game series, the Hyrule Castle forms an essential structure in game Super Smash Bros. The design as shown in the game is based on the Ocarina of Time’s Hyrule Castle. The stage in which the castle comes into view forms one of the biggest stages of the game. The Death Mountain is shown at the backside of the Castle which forms a background.
